Who this covers
This policy explains how information is handled when a permitted household member uses nguy.in (the website, family calendar, settings, and related estate tools). “We,” “us,” and “the household administrators” means the adults who operate this private site for the family and estate.
Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the household tools:
- Account identity. When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email, name, and basic profile details so we can confirm you are on the family allowlist and show your name in the app.
- Calendar and schedule data. Events you create or edit (titles, times, notes, importance, assigned person/activity, and optional shared resources such as cars) are stored so the household can see and coordinate plans.
- Optional calendar subscription. Members may subscribe to a private ICS feed URL (from Settings) so Google Calendar or Apple Calendar can pull estate events. Anyone with that secret link can read the shared calendar, so treat it like a household password.
- Household settings. Things administrators configure, such as family email aliases, person colors, and shared resources.
- Correspondence. If someone uses the public contact form on the landing page, we store the name, email, and message they submit.
How we use information
Information is used only to:
- Authenticate allowlisted household members
- Operate the shared family calendar and related estate tools
- Let members optionally subscribe their own calendar apps to the shared estate feed
- Let parents/administrators manage access, aliases, and shared resources
- Respond to correspondence sent through the site
We do not sell personal information. We do not use household data for advertising or unrelated analytics products.
Children and family accounts
This site is intended for a closed family and estate community. Children of the household may have accounts only when a parent or household administrator adds their Google email to the allowlist and helps them use the tools. Parents and administrators are responsible for supervising children’s use, reviewing what is shared on the family calendar, and removing access when appropriate.
We do not knowingly offer this service to the general public or to children outside the household allowlist.
Who can see household data
- Other allowlisted members can see shared calendar information appropriate to the household tools (for example, who is scheduled when, and which shared resource is booked).
- Parents / administrators can manage members, aliases, resources, and may edit household events as needed for family coordination.
- Service providers that host the tools (such as our database/hosting provider and Google, for sign-in) process data only to provide those services under their own terms.
Because this is a shared household calendar, do not put secrets in event titles or notes that you would not want other family or estate members to see.
Google user data
Google sign-in is required. Depending on what you authorize, Google may provide:
- Basic profile scopes (
openid, email, profile) for login - Google Calendar events scope so the app can create or update events on your primary calendar when you sync
Google Calendar access is used solely to mirror household events you own or sync into your personal Google Calendar. We do not use Google user data for ads, and we do not transfer Google user data to unrelated third parties. Access tokens are handled in the browser session for authentication and sync; calendar write operations go to Google’s Calendar API on your behalf after you grant permission.
You can revoke Google access at any time in your Google Account’s security / third-party access settings. After revoke, sign-in and sync will stop working until you authorize again.
Where data is stored
Household app data is stored in a private database project used for these tools. The public marketing/contact form may store correspondence submissions in the same project. Hosting for the static website is provided via GitHub Pages on the nguy.in domain.
Retention
Account and calendar records are kept while the household continues to use the tools. Administrators may remove a member from the allowlist, delete or soft-remove events, or retire aliases. Correspondence submitted through the landing form is kept as long as needed to respond or maintain household records. If you want specific information removed, contact a household administrator.
Security
Access requires a Google account on the household allowlist. We use HTTPS for the site and API. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; household administrators take reasonable steps appropriate for a private family tool, not a public consumer platform.
Your choices
- Sign out of the app at any time
- Revoke Google permissions in your Google Account
- Ask a parent/administrator to update your name/alias, remove events, or remove your allowlist access
- Decline Google Calendar sync and still use the household calendar inside nguy.in (subject to login)
Contact
For privacy questions about this private household site, contact a household administrator through the Correspondence form on nguy.in, or the support email listed on the Google OAuth consent screen for this project.
Changes
We may update this policy as the household tools change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the allowlisted tools after an update means the revised policy applies to that use.
